Chemika has gone solar

A 61kW solar system has been installed on the roof of the Chemika Girraween laboratory with the aim of reducing power costs and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Our daytime operating hours means our highest power demand is on hot sunny days and this perfectly matches our system’s solar output.

During the day almost all of our energy needs are now met by our solar system, with power from the grid only required overnight and to supplement our power use on days of heavy cloud. The result of this is we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 70%.

Ever increasing energy prices make a sound economic case for the system’s installation. Perhaps more importantly we share our customers concern about greenhouse gas emissions and are determined to do our part to prevent catastrophic global warming.

Many organisations have made commitments to achieve net zero carbon emissions and we understand that this can include a requirement for reductions of emissions in service providers. Over the next few months we will be investing in other systems to reduce our emissions and our customers can be confident we are playing our part in achieving net zero emissions.
