We have just completed what is a first at Chemika but also most likely a national first!
Training operators in the skill of swab sampling of surfaces usually requires a trip to the laboratory. This is time consuming and with the current uncertainties around travel, can make it impossible.
Chemika have developed a system where materials and solutions required to fortify surfaces are supplied to the customer, so that training evaluation can be carried out at the location of the manufacturing site. The test system comprises of a harmless compound which can be transported and used safely. The system has been validated for recovery and also expiry dates to allow for shipping of the solutions and the return of the swabs to our Girraween laboratory. The demonstration of technique to the trainees which was formerly carried out at the Chemika site is now presented via Zoom.
Our system was developed prior to the arrival of Covid-19 to prevent the need for staff to travel interstate, but the system is ideally suited to the current situation where interstate travel cannot always be taken for granted, and has the potential to leave employees stranded.
